Homework Policy:
Parents can help in the following ways:
*Moderate degree of struggle is healthy and promotes growth so encourage your child to stick with a challenge, unless it becomes overly frustrating.
Missing homework/Homework Log:
Every time your child misses a homework assignment, he/she needs to log into the homework log. Missing homework must be made up during snack time and that night. If the problem is consistent, parents will be notified and we will work together to come up with a plan for the student.
- At least 30 minutes/night of reading a "just right" book as well as conversations about books
- Up to 30 minutes/night of math homework- no more! (Math 4 Today one time per week)
- Math challenge problems are optional and due on Fridays
- Multiplication Fact Practice
Parents can help in the following ways:
- Feel free to help your child understand directions by asking clarifying questions.
- Provide a distraction-free environment for accomplishing homework.
- Remind your child to pack up his/her homework after completion.
- Help your child make a plan for organizing work, especially long term assignments.
- If your child is struggling excessively* with a particular assignment, please sign the top the page to indicate a conscientious effort was made and follow up help is needed. We will address the confusion at school the next day.
